National Pension System (NPS) to observe Service Fortnight from June 27 to July 9, 2016; Fortnight long campaign aims at awareness creation, service orientation and information dissemination along with subscribers registration.

With a view to create awareness about the National Pension System (NPS) and improve subscriber interface, it has been decided to observe NPS Service Fortnight from June 27 to July 9 ,2016 by all the entities/ functionaries in the NPS value chain such as Points of Presence (POPs), the Central Recordkeeping Agency (CRA) etc. across the country. This fortnight-long campaign is aimed at awareness creation, service orientation and information dissemination along with subscribers registration.

These PFA documents were signed in presence of Shri PiyushGoyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy during two day States Power Minister’s Conference held on 16-17th June ,2016 at Goa. Smt Jyoti Arora, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power signed these documents on behalf of GOI.

Boxer Manoj Kumar qualifies for Olympics

Baku (Azerbaijan), Former Commonwealth Games gold-medallist Manoj Kumar (64kg) today became the second Indian boxer to qualify for the Olympic Games after advancing to the semifinals of the AIBA World Qualifying Tournament here.

Manoj thrashed Tajikistan's Rakhimov Shavkatdzhon in the quarterfinal 3-0. He will next face European champion Pat McCormack of Britain in the semifinal tomorrow. McCormack defeated Frenchman Amzile Hassan in his quarterfinal bout.

Famed qawwal Amjad Sabri gunned down in Karachi

Renowned Qawwal Amjad Sabri was shot dead in Karachi on Wednesday afternoon.

Additional Inspector General Mushtaq Mehar told Dawn that two men riding a motorcycle fired shots at Sabri's car. He termed the incident “targeted killing.”

Sabri (45) and an associate were travelling in the car in Liquatabad 10 area when the gunmen opened fire, critically injuring him. The two were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed hospital immediately, where Sabri died of his injuries.
