This NASA Astronaut Was Forced To Use His Finger To Block A Leak In International Space Station

After a "meteorite crash" ripped a hole, Astronauts scrambled to plug the hole in a Russian capsule. European Space Agency astronaut Alexander Gerst reportedly put his finger over the hole initially.

The leak was detected on Wednesday night, possibly from a micrometeorite strike when it caused a small drop in cabin pressure.

A live feed from the ISS, NASA's ground control were heard saying: "Right now Alex has got his finger on that hole and I don't think that's the best remedy for it."

Astronauts put sealant on a cloth and stuck it over the area, which is said to be around two millimetres across, reports The Sun. The makeshift repairs was said to have stabilized the situation.
