9 Times We Need To Take Care Of Ourselves Over Anyone Else

We go around thinking that we need to take care of situations. As kids, we are taught to be selfless, to think about other people’s comfort, their needs, and work around that. Thinking about your own self is looked down upon, as if we are not allowed to take care of ourselves at all. Taking care of other people is okay, but it is important that you take care of yourself. When you constantly only take care of others, you under value yourself, you let yourself be treated badly, you treat yourself wrong and you never demand for anything that you may deserve. There may come a time when people will not care that you put themselves first, because while you may be selfless, not everyone is. Here are some of those times in life when you should take care of yourself before you worry about other people’s opinions or comforts:
#1. When you are going through a breakup, you don’t need to call your ex or their friends to make sure that they are okay. You went through the breakup too.

#2. When someone close to you dies, it is not your responsibility to make sure everyone deals with it. You have to deal with it too, however you want to deal with it.

#3. When you are overwhelmed by the pace of your life, you need to check in with yourself and make sure you get comfortable.

#4. When the voices in your head get too loud, along with the voices around you.

#5. When there is peer pressure to do something gets out of hand, you need to think about what you really want to do and if it isn’t the same as what everyone else is doing, you should make sure you follow your own path.

#6. When there is pressure from family, because there is somehow, always pressure, to do better, to be better, you should be able to give yourself enough space to just be.

#7. You have to take care of yourself when you have to pick love, because often love is not enough and we sacrifice ourselves too much for love.

#8. When you need to lay low and try to get by in life, but people expect you to cater to their needs, it’s okay to be selfish and ask yourself what you want to do and if you choose yourself, you shouldn’t feel bad about it.

#9. When you are crying over fictional characters and your friends says, “it’s just a book!”; well it is, but it is okay to cry about it and bury yourself in the fictional world.
