Highest grossing film of Golmaal franchise

The fourth film of Golmaal franchise was released on more than 4000 screens globally. The horror comedy film directed by Rohit Shetty was released alongside, Amir Khan-starrer Secret Superstar. Both the films were loved by critics but the Golmaal franchise ate the plum when it came to box office reports.

Alongside, Ajay Devgn and Parineeti Chopra, the movie features Tabu, Tusshar Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kunal Kemmu, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, veteran comedian Johnny Lever, and Prakash Raj.

Golmaal 4 also becomes Rohit Shetty’s highest grossing movie till date. Shahrukh Khan starrer, Chennai Express held the record with a lifetime collection of Rs 227 crore. Also for Ajay Devgn, Singham Return held the numbers high but Golmaal 4 has broken all records now.

After Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2, Golmaal 4 is the only Bollywood film to have crossed the Rs 200 crore club and might be able to touch the prestigious Rs 300 crore mark this year.

While Baahubali 2’s dubbed Hindi version had collected more than Rs 500 crore this year, no other Bollywood film has been able to even cross the Rs 250 crore mark this year. The closest competitor to Golmaal 4, remains Varun Dhawan-starrer Judwaa 2.

2017, till date, has remained sluggish in terms of collection for Bollywood. Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees and Jab Harry Met Sejal disappointed the critics and audience alike. While Salman Khan’s Eid release Tubelight also didn’t go down well with the audience. Two big banner films are yet to come this year and we can only hope that Padmavati and Tiger Zinda Hai would be able to turn the table for Bollywood.
