SANITARY NAPKINS TO BE PROVIDED AT RATION SHOPS IN MAHARASHTRA SAYS CM DEVENDRA FADNAVIS

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured a women’s group that held protests at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan to avail sanitary napkins in ration shops across the state.

41-year-old Chhaya Kakde from Latur has been on hunger strike since January 21, 2018. Kakde along with five other women who work in the self-help group with her, have come all the way from Latur, to convince the government that sanitary napkins should be within the reach of women in rural areas.

Chhaya Kakde herself had started working at the age of 18 when the earthquake had rocked her city, Latur. She started working after getting trained with Baba Amte's group and even went on to take a three months training programme in US with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
