Kanchrapara District Association of Eastern Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides organized marathon run covering a distance of 5 KM at Bell Institute, Kanchrapara today (27.9.2020). The marathon run was flagged off by Shri Surendra Kumar, Chief Works Manager, Kanchrapara Workshop & District President, ER Bharat Scouts & Guides. Total 96 participants took part in the marathon run. In the boys section, Mohd. Gulzar Ansari got the first position while Mohd. Tufail and Kaluram Godara were second and third place winners respectively of the race. In the girls section, Anchal Chourasiya got the first position while Misha Kumar Sharma and Nisha Kumari Singh hold the second & third position respectively.
The event was organized maintaining all precautionary health & hygienic stipulations. Shri Surendra Kumar Chief Works Manager, Kanchrapara Workshop finally concluded the event and gave away the prizes to the winners.
It is stated that consequent upon the directives of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India, Eastern Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides is organizing as a regular measure Fit India Freedom Run in all the Divisions & Workshops of Eastern Railway. The basic objective of such run is to spread awareness for maintaining fitness of body & mind. Fit India Freedom Run brings the citizens of India into healthier lifestyle so that they can fight with the pandemic prevailing in the country. The programme was started from 15th August 2020 and will continue till 2nd October 2020. The basic objective of this mission of ER’s Bharat Scouts & Guides is not onlyto make themselves fit but also to create awareness among all to give them an idea to adopt the challenges for fitter India. Today’s marathon run is in fact a part of this awareness mission to induce people to adopt a healthier lifestyle and to maintain physical & mental fitness.
